Commemoration of Maria Callas Death
Commemoration of Maria Callas Death
On Sunday, September 15th, the Maria Callas Museum remembers and honors the day of death (September 16th) of the great soprano Maria Callas by offering reduced general admission to its exhibition spaces.
At 6:00 PM, in Mitropoleos Square, directly opposite the entrance to the Museum, a music event with free admission will take place in memory of the diva. It will be a “quiet” and sweet concert, with the valuable contribution of the ARUNDOS wind trio from the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra. The trio will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Ibert.
Trio ARUNDOS:
The ARUNDOS woodwind trio consists of three principal players from the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra and the Athens State Orchestra, playing the oboe, clarinet, and bassoon. Their long-standing collaboration with major orchestral ensembles, combined with their shared interest in exploring the repertoire of this delicate, acoustically sensitive wind combination, inspired them to create a unique ensemble in Greece. The trio’s repertoire is extensive, reaching up to contemporary composers. Recently, their repertoire has been enriched with dedicated works by Antoniou, Travlos, Samaras, Darla, Liakakis, and others. The Trio Arundos has performed in concerts at the Athens Concert Hall, in London, at the Nakas Conservatory concert hall, Parnassos, the Hellenic American Union, and the American University of Athens. They recently presented a masterclass at CAMPION SCHOOL for ICGSE and IB students.
The Trio consists of:
Kostas Giovanni – Oboe
Grammenos Chalkias – Clarinet
Ioannis Evangelatos – Bassoon
