What If Buildings Could Speak? – European Heritage Days 2025
The Maria Callas Museum joins this year’s celebration of the European Heritage Days, welcoming all visitors on Sunday, September 28, with reduced admission. Book your ticket here.
To mark the occasion, the Museum join forces with the cultural organization MONUMENTA to host an open, day-long event in the heart of Athens: “What If Buildings Could Talk: An architectural walk of discoveries and dilemmas about second chances and second thoughts in the Mitropoleos neighborhood”. This initiative highlights this year’s European Heritage Days theme, dedicated to our shared architectural heritage.
Starting from the museum building, we will set out together on a short yet unique walk with stops at landmark buildings, observing their shared European architectural styles and uncovering both simple and complex local stories. At the end of our walk, we will gather back at the museum for an engaging workshop. With the guidance of experts and professionals in the field, we will reflect on the present and future of these emblematic buildings, their abandonment or adaptive reuse, a pressing issue faced by major European cities today.
The day will conclude with a collective presentation of the outcomes of this shared journey: a day full of questions and reflections, but also filled with hope for common dreams and future actions for our city.
The event will be held in Greek.
