The Maria Callas Museum of the City of Athens brings the world of music to the children of \u201cAgia Sofia\u201d Children\u2019s Hospital <\/strong><\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”64px”][vc_column_text]With a strong commitment to its educational and social mission, the Maria Callas Museum of the City of Athens extends its activities beyond its walls and into \u201cAgia Sofia\u201d Children\u2019s Hospital, presenting the program <\/span>\u201c<\/i><\/span>The Power of My Voice \u2013 A Musical Journey with the Maria Callas Museum<\/b><\/i><\/span>.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

This original music-education program is specially designed for children hospitalized or staying at the hospital. Its purpose is to <\/span>nurture creativity, self-expression, communication, and discovery of self and others<\/b><\/span>. Through activities such as musical improvisation, theatrical play, and visual arts, each child has the opportunity to express themselves, create their own musical piece, and receive a recording of it to keep.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”2em”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”7577″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”7585″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”2em”][vc_column_text]A particularly meaningful element of the program is the <\/span>presentation of authentic objects from the <\/b><\/span>Museum\u2019s collection<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span>\u2014photographs, musical scores, and accessories once belonging to Maria Callas\u2014<\/span>brought directly into the hospital<\/b><\/span>. In this way, children experience first-hand encounters with Maria Callas\u2019 cultural heritage, making the story of the performing arts accessible, tangible, and inspiring.<\/span><\/p>\n

The initiative has been designed and is delivered by the experienced team of the Maria Callas Museum in collaboration with composer and educational program creator Markella Skourti.
