Masterclass in Theatrical Hair & Makeup Design with Pavlos Katsimichas<\/strong><\/p>\n

What are the secrets behind an artist\u2019s transformation before stepping into the spotlight? How does the metamorphosis happen behind the scenes?
\nThis two-day masterclass is dedicated to the crafts of wig-making, hairstyling, and stage makeup -two essential pillars shaping the stage identity of every opera performer.<\/p>\n

Participants will delve into the techniques of constructing, styling, fitting, and maintaining wigs, while also exploring contemporary practices of renewal and adaptation: from repurposing old wigs and materials to creatively reconstructing existing pieces.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the masterclass will focus on the art of makeup in the operatic world. How do lighting, stage distance, and dramaturgy affect stage makeup? Can a \u201ctechnical mistake\u201d become aesthetically right\u2014or even necessary? Through hands-on exercises, participants will explore techniques that make makeup faster, more demanding, or more personalized, depending on each artist\u2019s needs and personality.<\/p>\n

Following in the footsteps of his father, Alexandros Katsimichas\u2014who paved the way at the Greek National Opera in the field of wig-making and makeup\u2014Pavlos Katsimichas<\/strong> has been working with the institution for 27 consecutive years as Head Wigmaker and Makeup Artist.
