This masterclass is aimed at professional actors, directors, students of drama schools and other arts institutions, and anyone interested in the art of opera.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nikos Karathanos<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n

Nikos Karathanos was born in Athens and is originally from Evrytania.<\/span>
\nHe studied at the Pedagogical Academy of Rhodes and the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece. As an actor, he has collaborated with renowned directors such as Anatoli Vassiliev, Dimiter Gotscheff, Yorgos Lanthimos, Jossi Wieler, Matthias Langhoff, John Madden, Giannis Houvardas, Michail Marmarinos, Dimitris Mavrikios, Vassilis Papavassiliou, among others.He has starred in numerous productions from the classical and contemporary repertoire and has participated in tours across Greece and around the world. He has directed, with great success, productions such as <\/span>Prometheus<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>The Birds<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>Operetta<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>Salome<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>The Cherry Orchard<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>Decameron<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>Golfo<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>Cyrano de Bergerac<\/i><\/span>, and <\/span>Eight Women<\/i><\/span>. His works have been presented in New York, Santiago, and Montpellier. He has collaborated with the National Theatre of Greece, the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, the Onassis Cultural Centre, various private and regional theatres, and the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. He and his collaborators have received multiple awards for their artistic work. He is a professor at the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece (Directing Department) and has taught at the University of Urca in Rio de Janeiro.At the Greek National Opera, he made his directorial debut with the opera <\/span>Messa Chora<\/i><\/span> (2022), and in 2024 he directed <\/span>Cavalleria rusticana<\/i><\/span> \u2013 <\/span>Pagliacci<\/i><\/span> by Pietro Mascagni and Ruggero Leoncavallo. He and his team have been repeatedly awarded for their artistic contributions.<\/span><\/p>\n
