Opera Role Movement Masterclass \u201cPoetic Bodies\u201d with Petros Gallias<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Using poetic text, song, and music as points of departure, we will explore our movement at its limits through breathing and balance experiences. We will investigate the movement that is born from our own body, driven by our own energy. The movement that reflects the authenticity and uniqueness of our individual identity. The movement that transmits our personal signal. By recognizing this movement, we uncover our expressive wealth. We define its identity, its imprint. What makes us different. What unites us with the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through a series of exercises, speech becomes sound, sound becomes song. It becomes movement. Communication. Dissonance. Harmony. Protest. Rebellion. Freedom.<\/span><\/p>\n

Masterclass Objective<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n

The aim of the masterclass is to understand what is innately ours and what has been acquired in our movement, in our expression.<\/span><\/p>\n

The masterclass is addressed to final-year students, graduates, and professionals with studies in theatre, dance, or music. It is also open to individuals with an interest in opera and the movement of roles on stage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Petros Gallias<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n

Petros Gallias was born in Corfu in 1968. He began his studies in music and dance in his hometown. Between 1982 and 1985, he choreographed for the Corfu Experimental Dance Drama and participated in numerous European youth and adolescent arts festivals and creative meetings, also performing as a composer and dancer. He received several awards, including Best Young Performer (Bulgaria, 1982), First Prize for Composition and Performance (Syros, 1983), and First Prize for Performer and Award for Original Concept (Norway, 1984; Vatican, 1984; Paris, 1985).He studied dance at the State School of Dance in Athens and attended workshops both in Greece and abroad (1986\u20131990). In 1993, he graduated from the National Theatre of Greece\u2019s Higher School of Dramatic Art and starred in the film <\/span>End of an Era<\/i><\/span> by Antonis Kokkinos.Between 1991 and 2004, he collaborated extensively with the independent theatre scene, as well as with major institutions such as the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron), the Athens Festival, the National Theatre of Greece, and regional municipal theatres (DIPETHE) in Corfu and Roumeli.He has choreographed 72 theatrical productions, 34 operas, 27 dance theatre works, and 4 interdisciplinary stage pieces. He has worked with renowned directors, soloists, and composers. From 1997 to 2001, he taught physical expression at the Athens College Dance Theatre Group and from 1999 to 2001 at the National Theatre\u2019s Actors\u2019 Workshop, as well as in various seminars.He founded the <\/span>Iros Angelos<\/i><\/span> Dance Theatre, for which he choreographed numerous dance dramas (1993\u20132004). He is a member of the Greek section of the International Dance Council (CID UNESCO), as well as founding member and president of the Greek Choreographers\u2019 Association. He is also a long-standing collaborator of Carmen Rouggeri.From 1997 to 2010, he worked regularly with the Greek National Opera (GNO) as a choreographer for productions such as <\/span>The Cursed Serpent<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>Nabucco<\/i><\/span>, <\/span>Don Giovanni<\/i><\/span>, and <\/span>Rigoletto<\/i><\/span>. He also choreographed <\/span>La Serva Padrona<\/i><\/span> (2006\u201307), a co-production between the GNO and the Athens Chamber Opera.<\/span><\/p>\n
